What Engines Will Be Offered For The New BMW X5?
BMW completely unveiled the full-size X5 SUV of the new fourth generation. The model will go on sale in November 2018. One of the important points that consumers are interested in when launching such cars is the range of available motors. What engines do the BMW designers offer for the 2019 BMW X5?
Initially, four modifications will be introduced to the market. The xDrive40i petrol version will get a 6-cylinder 3.0-liter engine with 340 hp. Traction effort reaches 450 Nm, which is already available at 1500 rpm. Acceleration to 100 km/h of this X5 is 5.5 seconds. The fuel consumption is 8.5-8.8 liters.
The BMW X5 xDrive50i in Europe will not be sold. The petrol V8 (4.4 liters) develops 340 hp and 650 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h is 4.7 seconds. In the combined cycle, the crossover consumes 11.6 liters.
The xDrive30d diesel version got a 3.0-liter engine with an output pf 265 hp and a torque of 620 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 6.5 seconds. The fuel consumption is an average of 6.0-6.8 liters.
A more powerful BMW X5 M50d diesel version is equipped with a 3.0-liter 400-hp engine. Traction effort reaches 760 Nm. The car accelerates to 100 km in 5.2 seconds. Its consumption is 6,8-7,2 liters with mixed traffic.
The new X5 is noticeably larger than the third-generation model. The wheelbase is 2975 mm (+42 mm), the length is 4922 mm (+36 mm), the width is 2004 mm (+66 mm!), the height is 1745 mm (+19 mm).
The BMW X5 is one of the most popular full-size crossovers in the world, if we talk about the premium segment. Total sales amounted to 2.2 million units.
The new-generation model will be produced at the American BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Here they produce the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X6 SUVs, and also prepare for production the cross-flagship BMW X7.
The 2019 BMW X5 will start to arrive at dealers at the end of this autumn.
