Volkswagen Launches New Electric Brand for China Market
For the world’s largest Chinese car market, Volkswagen launches a new brand for electric vehicles called SOL. The first representative of the new brand – the SOL E20X SUV has been shown at the Beijing Motor Show, the Autocar reports.
The SOL brand (“sun” in Spanish) is a joint development of Volkswagen and JAC Motors. The E20X will go on sale in China later this year.
The new vehicle is built on the same platform as the iEV7S crossover from JAC, which is already available in China.
However, the influence of VW Group, especially SEAT, is noticeable – the SEAT’s style is definitely visible in the design of the new SUV.
Data on the powertrain are scarce, we can logically expect that the SOL E20X received the same lithium-ion battery pack and electric motor that are installed on the iEV7S.
Also from the latter the new SUV got smart charging, parking technology, a 360° parking camera. VW says the model can drive 299 km (186 miles) on one charge, according to NEDC.
