The Price Of The Volvo’s Most Expensive Car In The History Is Announced
Polestar (belongs to Volvo Cars) has announced the cost of its first bespoke car – the Polestar 1 coupe, which will arrive this year. The price is impressive – from 156,135 euros (189,985 dollars), which makes the car the most expensive ever produced by Volvo, Motor1 reports.
The model is based on the Volvo S90. It will be produced at a purpose-built facility in Chinese Chengdu.
Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said at the Beijing Motor Show,
After our public introduction at the Geneva Motor Show in March, we are excited to be back in China – one of the key markets for the Polestar brand. It feels great to bring the Polestar brand and the Polestar 1 closer to the public here in Beijing.
The Polestar 1 coupe is a halo car for the new brand. It will be followed by a whole family of electric vehicles: a mid-sized all-electric Polestar 2 in 2019 – a potential rival to the Tesla Model 3, a stunning electric Polestar 3 crossover in 2020 with excellent aerodynamics, and later the Polestar 4 – a convertible based on the Polestar 1.
It is planned to produce 500 units of Polestar 1 annually. Potential customers can book a place in the list of orders with a refundable deposit of EUR 2,543. According to Polestar, more than seven thousand people have already placed orders, this is a good start for the new electric brand.
