The Next-Generation Toyota RAV4 Is Officially Presented
At the Auto Show in New York, that has just opened, Toyota shows the fifth generation of the best-selling Toyota RAV4 in the style of the FT-AC concept. The novelty has received new appearance, chassis and 8-speed automatic transmission.
The SUV is built on a TNGA K modular platform, which is 57% stiffer than its predecessor – the latest Camry also got it. The car became the first Toyota with AWD on such an architecture, plus the first to receive a dynamic torque distribution system.
Compared to the previous generation, the new RAV4 is shorter and wider, the distance between the axles has increased by 29 mm. The overall dimensions of the novelty are 4595 mm x 1855 mm x 1699 mm. At the heart of the powertrain there is a petrol V4 engine of 2.5 liters, which is aggregated with the mentioned new eight-speed automatic gearbox. A hybrid powertrain with an electric motor and an ECVT will be available too.
Available modifications are XSE Hybrid (sports), Limited (luxury) and Adventure (off-road). The crossover, among other things, is equipped with LED optics with automatic switching from high to low beam, an adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning and road sign detection systems, a JBL audio system.
A new multimedia complex with a 7-inch screen (8-inch optional) supports Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
