The New Peugeot 508 SW Wagon Has Premiered
The new-generation Peugeot 508 SW, a potential rival of the Skoda Superb, will go on sale in late 2018. The French automaker has just held an official virtual premiere. In-kind wagon for the first time can be seen at the Paris Motor Show at the beginning of autumn.
The brand-new Peugeot 508 SW will challenge the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer and Skoda Superb Estate on the market. I’s early to speak of its success, but the 508 has one undoubted advantage – a hybrid powertrain.
The stylish exterior of the wagon, or rather the large slope of the roof’s rear part, affected the trunk’s space – 530 liters. This is 30 liters less than the Skoda Superb Estate’s.
Peugeot will offer a choice of two petrol (180 and 225 hp) and three diesel engines (from 130 to 180 hp) for the 508 SW. All models will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the exception of the junior diesel version, which will have a six-speed manual gearbox.
It is expected that in 2019 there will be a hybrid version of the wagon with an autonomy reserve of 50 km.
The new Peugeot 508 SW demonstrates a modern approach to safety. In particular, the car got night vision technology and a driver fatigue warning system.
The prices for the new car have not been announced yet, but it is expected that the flag-wagon of Peugeot will cost more than 30,000 euros.
