The New Nissan Leaf Is Named The 2018 World Green Car
At the international Auto Show in New York the Nissan Leaf of the latest generation won the 2018 World Green Car title. This is a prestigious annual world award.
The Leaf is a classic embodiment of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a vision of how cars should be driven and integrated into society. It became the first all-electric vehicle, called the ‘World Green Car of the Year’, for the entire existence of this category (introduced in 2016).
In comparison with the predecessor, the new second-generation model received more power reserve, a new dynamic design in combination with the latest Nissan Intelligent Mobility complex, which included ProPILOT, e-Pedal, an emergency braking system and others.
Since the launch of the model in 2010 on the roads of the world there have been more than 300,000 environmentally friendly Nissan Leafs with zero emissions. The car of the 2018 model year has become the first among five applicants for the ‘green’ title. When choosing the winner, the jury took into account environmental indicators – the level of emissions and fuel efficiency.
The Leaf of the previous generation was named the World Car of the Year in 2011, and it still remains the only fully electric model that got such a title for the 14-year history of the contest.
