The Audi A6 Avant is First Revealed On Official Photos
The debutant of the Geneva Motor Show – the Audi A6 sedan of the new generation has not even reached the dealers, but the German automaker, without wasting time, has already shown the version of the new car in the wagon’s body – the Audi A6 Avant. There first photos published.
The rival of the BMW 5 Series Touring and the Mercedes E-Class Estate, the A6 Avant experienced the same style evolution as its four-door ‘brother’.
The car is somewhat larger than its predecessor – by 10 mm in length, 20 mm in width and 6 mm in height, however the rear and front overhangs are reduced due to the extended wheelbase. It should improve the space in the cabin, especially for rear passengers.
The rest styling is the same as in the sedan. Significant D-pillars from the rear, a small spoiler on the roof and a chrome strip that runs through the back. As with all models of the S line, the novelty received different bumpers, with winglets at the front and a diffuser at the rear.
The A6 Avant’s trunk’s space remained the same as its predecessor’s: 565 liters and 1680 liters with the 40:20:40-split rear seats folded.
On the dashboard the latest dual-screen infotainment system of Audi dominates, complete with tactile feedback. One of the functions of the system is the neatest parking camera set-up, which allows you to see what is happening around the car as if filmed from a drone. The Audi 12.3-inch digital dials and a head-up display are available too.
The wagon’s power range is the same as that of the sedan – with petrol or diesel V6s, a 48-volt mild hybrid unit and a four-wheel drive. A 3-liter diesel 50 TDI engine with 286 hp will be offered. A petrol six-cylinder 55 TFSI delivers 340 hp.
A 204-hp 2.0-liter TDI with four cylinders is also expected, a high-performance RS 6 version is coming. All variants of the A6 Avants will be with automatic transmissions.
The suspension has four settings: steel springs, steel springs with adaptive shock absorbers, sport suspension and full air suspension. A sports differential and dynamic all-wheel steering will be available as well.
In summer the new car will enter the market and costs around 45,880 euros.
