A scandal again: Audi recalls 127,000 cars because of the manipulations with emissions
The Federal Office for Motor Inspectorate of Germany (KBA) has obliged Audi to convert the software of the V6 TDI diesel engines on 127,000 vehicles worldwide, Deutsche Welle reports.
The software settings made it possible to bypass the restrictions on the level of harmful emissions in accordance with the EURO-6 standard. “Dieselgate” this time touched on the A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, SQ5 and Q7 models, with 77,000 of them just in Germany.
Audi has assured that they are working on the problem and are looking for ways to modernize the engines in terms of avoiding possible violations. In the meantime, it is decided to revoke the cars with the revealed defect in order to update the software on them.
Audi is a part of the Volkswagen Group, accused in the USA in manipulations with harmful emissions. In December last year, the KBA ordered the recall of around 57,600 Volkswagen Touaregs of 2014-2017 due to a disconformity in the work of the exhaust gas cleaning system.
