KIA is developing a budget crossover: the concept is already ready
Today at the Auto Expo 2018 exhibition in the Indian capital, Kia Motors presents the concept of a compact Kia SP SUV. The serial model will appear next year. It will be produced at the new Kia plant in India.
The company has noted that the car combines “the latest technologies and high functionality of a small SUV”. It has a stylish design, a wide radiator grille, LED-optics.
It will be a cheap variant for the Indian market which costs up to $14,000 (€11,355) and is up to 4.2 meters in length. However, the model can not be excluded from entering other markets.
For comparison: the smallest crossover of the Korean brand for today – the Kia Stonic costs in Europe from €18,599 (January price for a new model).
Presumably, the Kia’s new budget crossover may take the platform and power units from the Hyundai Creta. It will get petrol 1.6- and 2.0-liter engines of 123 and 150 hp, as well as 90- and 128-hp turbo diesels of 1.4 and 1.6 liters.
