In 2019 Porsche Will Launch A Coupe SUV Based On The Cayenne
A coupe-like SUV will soon join Porsche model lineup. It was repeatedly told about before, but is given a ‘green light’ only now: Porsche boss Oliver Blume has approved it.
The five-door new car based on the third-generation Porsche Cayenne should enter the market in the fourth quarter of 2019 and compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, BMW X6 and the Audi Q8. The coupe SUV will be assembled at a plant in Leipzig, Germany.
This is a more sporty and performance car than the usual Cayenne. It will also take some style cues from the second-generation Porsche Panamera – changed rear windows, the tail-light design.
As this is a coupe, a different rear part is expected than that of the Cayenne, including another rear doors design, liftback-style tailgate, a sloping roof line. But the front end of the car is made in the same style as the Cayenne sibling, with the exception of the new front bumper design.
A powerful petrol twin turbo 2.9 V6 engine with 440 bhp will be basic for the model. A higher level version will get a 4.0-liter 550-bhp V8. No diesel motors are planned.
