Ford Revived The Ford Escort For The Chinese Market
The Ford Escort is back! True, only to the Chinese market. A model with a half-century history that underwent several iterations and left Europe in 2004, but now the automaker decided to revive it for the world’s largest car market – China.
The new car is demonstrated at the Motor Show in Beijing. It will be sold alongside the Focus of the fourth generation. For the first time the Ford Escort sedan on the basis of the old Focus came to Asia in 2004. The new generation of the model is built on the Ford’s latest global car platform.
Many details echo the latest Ford Focus and one of the previous generation: a large chrome grille in the front, a sloping roof meeting a neat trunk lid, wrap-around taillights.
The interior features flat plastic surfaces around an eight-inch touchscreen, two-tone seats, a good technical equipment, including a reversing camera, automatic wipers, keyless entry and electric seats.
The car received the award – 5 stars from the Chinese division of NCAP for standard safety systems.
The Escort is equipped with a petrol EcoBoost engine of 1.0 and 1.5 liters, paired with a manual or automatic gearbox.
The new Ford Escort will not be delivered to Europe, but the Europeans have an excellent alternative – the new Ford Focus.
