Some Details About The Ford Fiesta’s Sports Version Have Been Unveiled
Ford has announced some details about the Fiesta ST sports version, which will enter the market this year. A ‘fresh technical stuffing’ makes the car one of the most good-for-driving hot hatchbacks.
The Fiesta ST sets a new standard of driving in its segment, while developing it, Ford engineers applied what they’ve learned from the recent Focus RS and Ford GT.
The ST version has received an optional Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential, which improves corner grip of the front-drive car.
The force vectoring springs, which the company even has patented, provide sharper turn-in and responsiveness.
The most interesting innovation is a launch control function. Normally it is used on top all-wheel drive versions, such as the ‘bigger brother’ Focus RS.
The sports ST modification has received a new 3-cylinder 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine with 203 hp of output, amplified by a new exhaust system with active valve technology.
For the first time ever on a Fiesta ST one of the driving modes can be selected – normal, sport or track. Also for the first time for a 3-cylinder motor, an industry cylinder deactivation is available.
Besides, the Ford Fiesta ST offers a Sync 3 multimedia system, a Bang & Olufsen Play high-end audio system and sophisticated technologies for driver assistance, in particular, lane keep assist and road sign recognition.
