The oldest American automaker Cadillac is developing a new halo model, for the first time since the Cadillac ELR coupe went out of production in 2016. Наlo is a modern technology of wireless charging of electric vehicles.
It’s neither a sedan nor a SUV, but the first General Motors sports car since the unsuccessful XLR, produced from 2003 to 2009 along with its high-performance XLR-V version.
Speaking at the 2018 Automotive Forum in New York, President of Cadillac Johan de Nysschen confirmed that the company was working on a Halo car. It will not be a traditional brand’s large sedan, as sedans are sufficiently represented in the market.
It is rumored that the new Cadillac’s sports car or supercar will be built on the same platform as the mid-engined next-generation Chevrolete Corvette, but with an eight-cylinder twin-turbo engine, like the one on the CT6 V-Sport. The 4.2-liter motor in the sports sedan delivers 550 hp and 850 Nm of torque.
It is also known that the new Corvette, although shares the platform with the new Cadillac car, but will not receive its exclusive twin-turbo powerplant.
