BMW Is Preparing A Real Competitor To The Tesla Model S
BMW continues to actively provide its ‘i’ sub-brand , under which it develops, manufactures and sells electric cars. Another new car in this lineup is the i4 sedan, which should be a serious competitor to the American Tesla Model S.
The BMW i4 will be the first of twelve electric models that the Bavarian automaker intends to bring to the market until 2025. Most likely, it will be based on the BMW 4-Series, but this is just our assumption.
Generally speaking, BMW intends to fully electrify its model range. That is, the mentioned 12 models become only half of the plan, according to which in every family of the brand there will be an all-electric version.
By the way, the company has already reserved indices from i1 to i9 and from iX1 to iX9 (for electric SUVs) in the patent office.
When the serial BMW i4 appears, it is still unknown. Initially, the electric Mini will be introduced, followed by the X3 electric crossover and then by a serial embodiment of the BMW iNext concept. The Motor1 suggests a prototype precursor of the i4 can be shown this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Approximately half of the planned BMW EVs will be equipped with a fifth-generation battery. It is reported that with a thrifty driving style, it can provide a driving range of up to 700 km on a single charge.
