BMW Has Presented The Most Powerful Version Of The M5 Sedan
On May 9 BMW introduced the most powerful modification of the M5 sedan, the BMW M5 Competition. In comparison with the standard M5, the engine output is increased by 25 hp, there are a number of changes in the exterior, interior and undercarriage. This is a potential competitor to the Audi RS7 and Mercedes-AMG E 63 S.
The new version received the same turbocharged eight-cylinder 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo unit, but with a capacity of 625 hp (against the previous 600 hp), with a torque of 750 Nm ranged from 1800 to 5800 rpm.
The motor is combined with the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system, debuted on the standard BMW M5 of the new generation. The M5 Competition accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds (0.1 seconds faster than the standard M5 version). The declared fuel consumption in the mixed cycle is 10.8 l per 100 km.
The body of the new car is painted in a unique Frozen Dark Silver Metallic color and is distinguished by glossy black elements, among which there is a radiator grille, side panels, mirrors, overlays for exhaust pipes.
Among the distinctive features of the exterior we also may note body-colored door handles, a small spoiler, M5 Competition plates (they are also present in the cabin), wheels with 275/35 R20 tires in the front and 285/35 R20 ones in the rear. Carbon inserts are added to the interior.
The BMW M5 Competition is equipped with a new front stabilizer, 10 percent harder springs, a reconfigured air suspension. In the Sport mode, the shock absorbers provide an excellent grip level on race tracks such as the Nürburgring.
Production of the BMW M5 Competition will begin in July. Prices will be called closer to the start of sales.
