BMW has presented a wagon BMW 5 Series of a new generation
The company BMW has presented a wagon 5 Series Touring of a new generation. The automaker published official images, announced some technical characteristics. The first public demonstration of the new BMW 5 Series Touring is scheduled for March at the Geneva Motor Show.
As the base sedan, which debuted in October last year, the wagon in a G31 body is placed on a platform CLAR. As a consequence, the next generation of Toring has become 100 kg lighter than its predecessor.
Initially, the following versions will go on sale:
- 530i (2,0 liters, 252 hp, 350 Nm);
- 540i xDrive (3,0 liters, 340 hp, 450 Nm);
- 520d (2,0 liters, 190 hp, 400 Nm);
- 530d (3,0 liters, 265 hp, 620 Nm).
Wagons with petrol engines are equipped only with a 8-band automatic transmission.
The diesel version 520d can be with a 6-speed manual transmission. All-wheel drive is optionally available for the 530d.
The trunk with raised seats is 570 liters, when folded – 1700 liters. The increase of bearing capacity by 120 kg is significant. Now it is 730 kg.
The first wagons will be delivered to dealers in early summer, 2017. Somewhat later the automaker will add other versions of the new BMW 5 Series Touring.
