BMW “hardens” the flagship 8-Series convertible in the Scandinavian snows
The official premiere of the revived BMW 8-Series is one of the most anticipated in 2018. In addition to the basic closed Grand Tourer version, the novelty will have a variant in a convertible body. It was shot by spies when tested in winter conditions on the roads of snow-covered Scandinavia.
The 8-Series convertible has got a soft roof with a very high degree of thermal and sound insulation. That is why it is “hardened” in the snows of Northern Europe. Apparently, the Bavarians do not want to lose customers from countries above the 53rd parallel.
The revived 8-Series will have several versions: from 830i with a 4-cylinder engine to 850i. Of course, the model range will be crowned with the hot M8 Coupe and M8 Convertible.
The latter, apparently, will have the same engine as the new M5 – a 4.0-liter V8 of 600 hp.
Experts believe that the 8-Series will take the place of the 6-Series in the BMW lineup. At the same time, the new generation of the 6-Series will somewhat decrease in size and shift to the 5-Series. However, this is just an assumption.
