A New Denza Electric Car With A Large Driving Range Has Been Presented
The other day, on March 26, 2018, Daimler introduced a new electric car under the Denza brand, created in partnership with the Chinese company BYD for the Chinese market. The claimed driving range is 500 km (311 miles), the Electrek informs.
The exterior features LED headlights in the style of “tiger’s eye” and rippling LED-taillights. In the cabin there is a large touch screen of 9 inches. Connectivity services include a Denza application for smartphones, WeChat and a navigation system, with their help a car owner will quickly find the nearest charging point (there are 112,000 of such in the country).
According to the automaker, a 500-kilometer power reserve is possible thanks to a new battery and a reduced weight. The novelty was tested in harsh conditions, including at temperature minus forty.
The Denza 500 is an upgraded version of the Denza 400, presented a year before, with a range of 400 km (hence the name). Instead of the previous battery pack with a capacity of 62 kWh, the new car received a battery of 70 kWh.
Two variants of electric motors are available – with an output of 86 or 135 kW. The price starts from $47,600 (298,800 yuan), taking into account the preferences (incentives) that act in China when purchasing EVs.
Daimler is expanding its offering for the first time through joint ventures with local producers such as Denza and BYD. The company has recently announced an investment of $1.8 billion in the production of Mercedes EQ electric vehicles in China.
